It Associate - Test Engineer. UTC Alumni.
Hello, my name is Summer Olmstead! I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with my bachelors degree in Computer Science: Data Science with a minor in Economics.
Applied in data analysis with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib, and used machine learning packages like Scikit-Learn for model development.
Concentrated on object-oriented design for projects in computer science education.
Gained practical experience through web development projects in a Software Engineering course, and use JavaScript extensively for coding Excel macros during my internship at Unum.
Utilized for fetching data from databases in File and Database course projects.
Acquired front-end development skills through multiple college projects.
Utilized for front-end styling in various web projects to create responsive and user-friendly interfaces.
Skilled in advanced functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros for data automation.
Proficient in navigating Salesforce to manage queues, handle service requests, and use dashboards to analyze data for decision-making. Experienced in utilizing Salesforce's CRM tools to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
Skilled in performing advanced statistical analysis, including linear regressions and data manipulation, primarily through coursework in Economics.
Proficient in using Visual Studio Code for full-stack web development, integrating projects with version control via Git and GitHub. Experienced in leveraging extensions for workflow optimization, debugging, and version tracking in both front-end and back-end development.
Proficient in Service Now for case assignments and dashboard analytics in Unum internship.

Global Happiness Linear Regression: Data Analyst Project
Conducted an econometric analysis of the Gallup World Poll to model country happiness using the Ladder Score as the dependent variable. Identified and quantified the impact of six key factors — economic production, social support, life expectancy, freedom, absence of corruption, and generosity — on happiness across countries using linear regression. Achieved an R-Squared value of 82.8% and an Adjusted R-Squared of 82.1% in the final robust model, demonstrating strong predictive performance. Applied econometrics knowledge to explain global happiness trends and identify factors contributing to higher life evaluations across countries.
Loan Approval Logistic Regression: Programming Languages for Advanced Data Analytics Final Fall 2024
Developed a logistic regression model to predict loan approval decisions based on key applicant characteristics. Fine-tuned the model to identify and quantify the impact of each variable on the likelihood of loan approval or denial. Analyzed the data to uncover insights on the most influential factors driving loan decisions, improving the understanding of approval patterns. Achieved strong model performance and used the results to inform loan approval criteria and decision-making processes.
RateYourCity App: Social Media App for Travelers | Software Engineering Fall 2024
Developed a demo version for Chattanooga, allowing users to review, like, and favorite activities (ex. Hotels, Restaurants, Tourist Attractions). Served as Scrum Master, leading the team and coordinating sprints. Designed and implemented server layers, focusing on backend development. Created a MongoDB Atlas database to collect and manage user data. Developed user signup, login logic, and authentication in the middle layer. Implemented security measures to ensure safe data transfer between frontend and backend. Created rating and comment system feature for all objects.
